History in Toronto 

• 10 Years of Participation in Women's Health Matters Forum and Expo sponsored by Sunnybrook and Women's College: 

Drs. Ivy Fettes (top left)  and Jay Sliverberg (bottom left) of Sunnybrook's, Dept. of Endocrinology spoke on thyroid disease many times at the forum.

• Thyroid 2000: What's New - Toronto chapter organized a public meeting for 500 with the Thyroid Foundation of America and other thyroid organizations in conjunction with the 2000 Endocrine Society Convention in Toronto.

• 1995 - Participation at the 11th International Thyroid Congress and the formation of Thyroid Federation International

• 1994 - Advocacy for maintenance of thyroid function tests in Ontario 

• 1983 - Advocacy for the use of the "thyroid collar" in dentistry to protect from radiation exposure. See Letter from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

• 1981- One of the first  Thyroid Public Education Meetings in  Canada and the first in Toronto  was held with Dr. Gerard N. Burrow, at that time, Head of the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism at Toronto General Hospital

• June 4, 1981 - First Organizational meeting of the Toronto Chapter. 

• November/December 1980: A notice of the start of the Thyroid Foundation in Kingston in Homemaker's Magazine brought the first Toronto members together. (Source: Yvonne Tucker - Toronto founding member)
